National Perspective
For a Better Day (2005)
Brazil
Students of the ages of 14 and 17, rich and poor alike, face adverse circumstances in the schools they attend. Students from the schools on the outskirts of São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Pernambuco, and those from two renowned private schools, one in São Paulo and the other in Rio de Janeiro - all were heard. The students tell of their expectation in relation to a professional future, towards family and love. They reveal the existence of prejudice, violence, and hope. The focus is subjective with each teenager describing their vision and their personal problem.
