The World (2004)
China
Tao lives out his fantasies in World Park, in downtown Peking, a tourist site where visitors may view international monuments without ever having to leave town. A young dancer and her boyfriend perform in front of the replica of the Taj Mahal, the Eiffel Tower, and Big Ben. Their relationship, however, is at a deadlock, for Tainsheg feels drawn to a beautiful designer Qun that he met on a trip. Meanwhile, young Xiaowei questions the future, since her boyfriend, Niu, is irresponsible. All of these make up a portrait of a new generation bereft of any large-scale dreams and prospects.
